SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Hot surface Symbol
This symbol indicates that the top surface may become hot during operation and may cause burns if touched. Avoid direct contact with this area while the appliance is in use or shortly after use.
OPERATION MANUAL
A.FOR THE FIRST USE
- Remove the coffee maker from the package, and check the accessories according to the list.
- Clean all the detachable components according to the following section of “CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE”. Then assemble them completely.
- Assemble the steel mesh and metal portafilter and ensure they are in position. Place the carafe on the cup tray.
- Operate the appliance according to Sections “B” and “C” (without adding coffee grounds). Repeat 2–3 times.

B.MAKE ESPRESSO COFFEE
1. Remove the tank cover by turning it in anti-clockwise. Pour appropriate water in water tank with the carafe. Do not exceed the maximum capacity.
Note:
① The carafe has cup markings. The maximum tank capacity corresponds to the 4-cup mark (240ml), and the minimum capacity corresponds to the 2-cup mark (120ml).
② Before pouring the water into the water tank, be sure the power cord is unplugged from the power outlet and the steam knob is in the“OFF”position.
2. Turn the water tank cover clockwise until it is screwed tight to ensure a full seal.
3. Put the steel mesh into metal portafilter, add coffee powder to steel mesh with measuring spoon.Then tamp the coffee powder firmly using the tamper.
Note:
① One scoop of coffee grounds can make about a cup of top-grade coffee.
② Refer to the INEI Espresso standard to select the appropriate coffee grounds and make desired cups coffee, the steel mesh has 2 cups and 4 cups marks.
4. Make sure the tabs on the metal portafilteralign with the slots in the appliance, then insert the portafilter into from the “INSERT” position, and you can secure the portafilter to the machine through turn it anti-clockwise until it is locked in the “LOCK” position (see Fig.1).

5. Place the carafe on the cup tray.
Note: In a cold environment, the carafe can easily break when exposed to sudden heat. Please warm the glass with warm water for 1-3 minutes before each use.
6. Plug the power cord into the outlet. Turn the steam knob to“COFFEE”position, and the indicator is illuminated, wait for about 90 seconds, there will be coffee flowing out.
Note: Turn the steam knob to“PREHEAT”position and heat the tank in advance to save time on coffee making. Preheat for about 60 seconds and begin to extract coffee.
7. After desired coffee has obtained, you should turn steam knob to“OFF”position, the indicator go out and the coffee maker stops working, your coffee is ready now.
WARNING: Do not leave the coffee maker unattended during making the coffee, as you need operate manually sometimes!
8. After finishing making the coffee, you can take the metal portafilter out through turn clockwise, and then pour the coffee residue out with the steel mesh pressed by press bar. Let them cool down completely, then rinse under running water. (When assemble the steel mesh again, you shall turn over the press bar to the original position)
WARNING:Before removing the metal portafilter or opening the water tank cover, make sure the pressure in the tank shall be released. The method is turn the steam knob to the “OFF”position firstly, the steam in the tank will vent through the steam wand. After pressure has released, and wait for the portafilter cooling down, you can remove the metal portafilter or open the water tank cover.
C. FROTHING MILK/ MAKE CAPPUCCINO
To make a cappuccino, pour frothed milk into a cup of espresso.
Method:
1. Prepare espresso first with container big enough according to the part “B. MAKE ESPRESSO COFFEE”.
2. Fill a jug with desired amount of milk for each cappuccino to be prepared, you are recommended to use whole milk at refrigerator temperature (not hot!).
Note:
① In choosing the size of jug, it is recommend the diameter is not less than 70±5mm, and bear in mind that the milk increases in volume, make sure the height of jug is enough. Choose the Simplus Milk Frothing Pitcher: 600mL capacity, sturdy & easy to clean.
② Before frothing milk, make sure there is enough water in the water tank. The lower mark (60ml) on the carafe indicates the recommended water amount for milk frothing.
3. Turn the steam knob to the “STEAM” position, the indicator will light up. Once steam begins to discharge steadily, immerse the steam wand into the milk to begin frothing.
4. When the required purpose is reached, you can turn the steam knob to“OFF”position stop frothing. Release the residual steam in the tank.
Note: Clean steam outlet with wet sponge immediately after steam stops generating, but care not to hurt!
5. Pour the frothed milk into the espresso prepared, now the cappuccino is ready. You can add sugar, cocoa powder, etc. to your coffee as desired.
Note: We recommend you allow the appliance to cool down before making coffee again. Otherwise burnt smell may occur in your espresso coffee.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
1. Cut off power source and let the coffee maker cool down completely before cleaning.
2. Clean housing of coffee maker with moisture-proof sponge often.
Note: Do not clean with alcohol or solvent cleanser. Never immerse the housing in water for cleaning.
3. Rotate the portafilter clockwise to detach, get rid of coffee residue inside, then you can clean it with cleanser, but at last you must rinse with clear water.
4. Clean all the detachable attachments in the water and dry thoroughly.
DESCALING PROCEDURE
To ensure efficient operation, keep internal pathways clean, and maintain optimal coffee flavor, you should remove mineral deposits every 2-3 months.
1. Fill the tank with water and descaler to the MAX level (the scale of water and descaler is 4:1, the detail refers to the instruction of descaler). Please use “household descaler”.
2. Letthe descaler sit in the unit at least 15 minutes.
3. According to the program of make espresso coffee, put the metal portafilter (no coffee powder in it) and carafe in place.
4. Turn the steam knob to “COFFEE” position, the indicator will be illuminated, and drain approximately 60ml of the descalers (equivalent to one standard coffee cup volume).Then turn the steam knob to “OFF” position and wait for 5s.
5. Turn the steam knob to “STEAM” position and vent steam for 2min, then turn the steam knob to “OFF” position to stop the unit immediately,
6. Restart the unit and repeat steps 4 and 5 at least three times.
7. Then turning the steam knob to “COFFEE” position to brew until no descaler is left.
8. Then brewing coffee (no coffee powder) with tap water in the MAX level, repeat steps 4 and 5 for three times to ensure that no descaler remains in the pipeline,then turn the steam knob to the “COFFEE” position until no water is left in the tank.
IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
Before using the electrical appliance, the following basic precautions should always be followed including the following:
1. Before using check that the voltage of wall outlet corresponds to rated voltage marked on the rating plate.
2. This appliance has been incorporated with a grounded plug. Please ensure the wall outlet in your house is well earthed.
3. To protect against fire, electric shock and injury to persons do not immerse cord, plug, in water or other liquid.
4. Remove plug from wall outlet before cleaning and when not in use. Allow appliance cool down completely beforeremoving or attaching parts and cleaning.
5. Do not use the coffee machine if the power cord or plug is damaged. If the machine malfunctions, is dropped, or is damaged in any way, please contact customer service promptly for assistance.
6. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock or injury to persons.
7. Place appliance on flat surface or table, do not hang power cord over the edge of table or counter. Ensure the power cord does not contact hot surface of appliance.
8. Never use the coffee maker in the environment of high temperature, high magnetic field and humidity, do not place the coffee maker on the hot surface or beside fire or another electrical appliance, such as on the top of refrigerator, avoid to be damaged. And also never place another objects on the top of coffee maker.
9. To disconnect, remove plug from wall outlet. Always hold the plug.Never pull the cord.
10. Do not use appliance for other than intended use and place it in a dry environment.
11. Close supervision is necessary when your appliance is operating. Do not let the appliance on the standby state for a long time. And never allow the children or inform persons to operate the appliance.
12. Be careful not to get burned by the steam.
13. Some parts of appliance are hot when operated (such as stainless decorated plate, drip tray shelf, water tank cover, steam wand and steam tip sleeve and so on), so do not touch with hand directly. Only use the handle or knob.
14. Clean and maintain the coffee maker regularly according to the section of “Cleaning and maintenance” to ensure the quality of coffee and the using life of appliance. And apply lubricant on the running parts regularly.
15. If you do not want to use the appliance for a long time, firstly clean all the detachable components, and dry them for storage.
16. During the coffee maker is on the states of making coffee and making steam, never remove the component and shut off the power.
17. When the appliance malfunctions, do not operate it or insert any foreign objects into the machine.
18. Never use the detergent or hot water for cleaning the brewing component, to avoid the running component is lack of lubricant and the component will be deformation due to high heat.
19. Do not let the coffee maker operate without water.
20. Do not use outdoors.
21. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
22. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
23. Do not immerse the appliance (including power cord and plug) to any liquid.
24. The water tank cover must not be opened during use.
